  12. • Introduction
  13. ◊  CloseDoc is a free system extension that allows you to close OpenDoc documents the way you were used to, i.e. by typing Command-Q (for “Quit”). OpenDoc is a great concept, but the rest of us is still used to the good old world of applications where quitting an application also means closing its documents. CloseDoc simply turns any Command-Q keystroke that has no menu equivalent into a Command-W keystroke, thus mapping any disallowed “Quit” attempt into a “Close” attempt.
  14. ◊  Since the Finder has no “Quit” command, and since closing Finder windows via Command-Q doesn’t make much sense, CloseDoc automatically disables itself inside the Finder.

  16. • Installation
  17. ◊  To install CloseDoc, move it inside your Extensions folder (inside your System folder) and restart your Mac.
  18. ◊  To disable CloseDoc, remove it from the Extensions folder and restart.

  25. ◊  This software is ©1996 Alessandro Levi Montalcini. It can be freely distributed as long as it is not modified and there’s no charge for it, but it may not be included in any commercial package without my consent.

  27. ◊  All non-profit user groups may distribute it at no charge.
  28. ◊  All magazines may publish it on floppy disk or CD-ROM without asking me first, as long as I get a copy of the issue containing my software.
